Cascade:

The hair left out of a braid to showcase the length of your hair.

Dutch:

The outermost strand or outside strand of hair is woven under the strand next to it, towards the center.

French:

The outside strand comes towards the center strand by weaving on top of, or over, the strand next to it.

One-Strand Braids

Gather:

The strands of hair that are added into a braid while you are braiding.

Two-Strand Braids

The gathers taken from one side of the head and added into that side of a braid which allow one side of the braid to be unattatched.

Three-Strand Braids

Lace:

Four-Strand Braids

The hair added into a braid on both sides during the braiding process. A stitch braid can be feather loose, Dutch, French, or taper.

Stitch:

Five-Strand Braids

The tail braid does not gather hair to hold the braid down; instead the braid pops out from the head.

Tail Braid:

Nine-Strand Braids

One side folds in like a French braid, while the other side pops up like a Dutch braid.
